The first private company to send humans to orbit is Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musks SpaceX. The same was done in May when astronauts Behnken and Hurley was launched. Upon returning, the astronauts will have spent on the space station for more than two months. In 2011 NASAs shuttle program retired and since that time the missions marks the first that they have launched humans from U.S. soil.
