NASA releases high-definition panoramic photos from Mars Perseverance rover

NASA’s Perseverance rover has delivered a high-definition, panoramic look around the Jezero Crater on Mars.
Key points:
- Mars Perseverance rotated its mast 360 degrees to capture dozens of images
- 142 photos were captured, which were stitched together to create one 360-degree panoramic image
- Incredible details can be seen of mountainous vistas and dust surrounding the Jezero Crater
It comes after NASA stitched together a 360-degree composite image from half a dozen photos sent back to Earth on February 20.
The latest panorama of the crater, dated February 21, was created after the rover rotated its mast (or “head”) 360 degrees, which allowed its dual-camera Mastcam-Z instrument to capture the image.
