Key spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman has finished his BBL stint and is enroute to the United Arab Emirates to play for Afghanistan in the series against Ireland later this month.
The Heat had anticipated Mujeeb would be available for Thursday’s clash with the Melbourne Renegades, now scheduled for Canberra’s Manuka Oval, but he was contacted by Afghanistan team management after Sunday night’s thrilling final ball loss to the Sydney Sixers with updated travel arrangements.
Mujeeb produced his best season for the Heat, claiming 14 wickets at 6.25 from eight games.
