Mozambique militants beheading children as young as 11, Save the Children says

Children as young as 11 are being beheaded in Mozambique, according to UK-based aid group Save the Children, as part of an Islamist insurgency that has killed thousands and forced many magnitudes more from their homes.

- Mozambique’s north has been ravaged by an Islamic State-linked insurgency since 2017
- Save the Children says almost 670,000 people have been displaced by the fighting
- The United States says its marines will help train Mozambican soldiers to help combat the insurgency
Save the Children said it had spoken to displaced families who described “horrifying scenes” of murder, including mothers whose young sons were killed.
