More than 50 Hong Kong activists arrested for breaching security law
More than 50 pro-democratic activists in Hong Kong have reportedly been arrested for breaking the city’s controversial national security law, in the biggest crackdown yet against the democratic opposition under the new law.

- The vote was to select democratic candidates for an upcoming election
- The national security law has been criticised as a tool to punish anti-Beijing dissent
The arrests in the Asian financial hub included well known democratic figures and former politicians James To, Lam Cheuk Ting and Lester Shum, according to the Democratic Party’s Facebook page and public broadcaster RTHK.
