More than 17,400 unlawfully issued Victorian parking fines could be overturned

More than 17,400 parking fines could be overturned in Victoria after the state ombudsman found another seven councils and agencies acted unlawfully by using private contractors to settle parking ticket disputes.

- Monash University and the City of Greater Geelong were among the councils and agencies issuing unlawful fines
- The findings followed an earlier investigation which found $20 million of unlawfully issued fines
- All of the councils and agencies identified are setting up refund schemes for fines motorists
