Paul W.S. Anderson’s film adaptation of Capcom video game franchise “Monster Hunter” has been pushed back seven months. Originally slated for September, the Milla Jovovich-led film will now open April 23rx next year.
Jovovich plays the leader of a UN military team who is transported to another realm populated by monsters. There she meets the Hunter (Tony Jaa), with the two teaming up to close a portal to prevent monsters from attacking earth.
Anderson recently teased the monsters Jovovich will face in the film, telling Empire Magazine (via Syfy Wire) that the beasties will be enormous:
“All our monsters are 50-60 feet tall. They’re really amazing. We’re building them in even more detail than the dinosaurs of Jurassic World. And they look even better, because we shot on real locations in South Africa and Namibia, which gives the animators something to really match into: real wind, real dust, real sun-flare. The monsters are the only CG thing in there.”
Ron Perlman, T.I. Harris, Diego Boneta, Meagan Good and Josh Helman co-star in the Sony Pictures release.
