Jim Byrne case his mind back to the great General Nediym after a long-term plan by premier trainer Tony Gollan came to fruition with Jonker in Saturdays Magic Millions Snippets (1200m).
Byrne, who had his 100th ride on Saturday in a Magic Millions feature race, won the MM Cup in 1999 on General Nediym.
“He reminds me a bit of General Nediym. I’m not saying he’s as good as he was, but just that high cruising speed, where he can work a bit and still run really good time,” Byrne said.
