MLB team pays $65m to trade AWAY its best player. Yes, you read that right
If you ever needed proof baseball is broken, this is it.
The St. Louis Cardinals are poised to acquire five-time all star Nolan Arenado from the Colorado Rockies in a deal that would involve several players and a large sum, according to reports.
But the large sum, estimated at around $US50 million ($A65 million) by ESPN, would be paid by the Rockies – in order to get Arenados deal off their books.
