Failures when Victoria’s hotel quarantine scheme was first set up put some returned Australians at risk of contracting blood-borne diseases like HIV, an investigation has found.
Key points:
- The review has not identified anyone who contracted a virus due to the possible cross-contamination
- But about 200 of the 1,700 people identified have not been contacted “despite multiple attempts”
- All 13 recommendations from the review are being, or already have been, implemented
