Not surprisingly Midnight Oil’s first song in 18 years is a brass-studded, uncompromising song of rage on behalf of the First Nations people.
On Sydney’s northern beaches circa ’76, their explosive chemistry was forged by drummer Rob Hirst and guitarists Jim Moginie and Martin Rotsey, with towering frontman Garrett completing a confronting presence that epitomised the pummelling catharsis of pub rock. Bassist Bones Hillman joined in ’87, when their reputation as tough, melodic agitators was poised to go global with the Grammy-nominated Diesel and Dust.
