Meningococcal diagnosis for WA adult – Yahoo News Australia
An adult has become the seventh person in Western Australia this year to be diagnosed with the life-threatening meningococcal disease, health authorities say.
An adult is recovering at home after being diagnosed with meningococcal disease serogroup W in Western Australia.
It brings the number of reported cases of the uncommon, life-threatening illness this year to seven, the WA Health Department says.
Of the meningococcal infections this year, there have been four serogroup W, two serogroup Y and one serogroup B, but no deaths.
Last year, 24 cases of meningococcal disease were reported in WA, including three deaths….
