Memorial to murdered UK backpacker Peter Falconio still planned but may be scaled back, says sculptor
The murder of British backpacker Peter Falconio and abduction of his partner Joanne Lees on an isolated highway in 2001 threw the spotlight on the Northern Territory for all the wrong reasons.

Bradley John Murdoch was convicted of Falconio’s murder in 2005 despite authorities being unable to locate his body.
In 2017, Ms Lees announced that she was fundraising for a memorial in Falconio’s honour.
