Melbourne’s RMIT University suspends classes after suffering IT outage
RMIT University has suspended online and in-person classes after suffering an IT outage that one government source has described to the ABC as a significant cyber attack.
In a statement, RMIT said it was working to resolve “some issues” that had affected its IT systems but did not confirm what had caused the problems.
The ABC understands the issues were caused by a phishing scam, where fraudsters attempt to gather sensitive details by presenting themselves as a trustworthy entity via emails or other digital communication.
