This weird-looking fish is a hybrid offspring of the American paddlefish and Russian sturgeon, both critically endangered.

The American paddlefish and Russian sturgeon were never fated to mate. However, when scientists accidentally bred a new hybrid of the two fish, the sturddlefish was born.
