Josh McGuire has been told he is free to speak to rival clubs as the North Queensland Cowboys aim to get their underperforming roster in shape.
McGuire switched from the Broncos at the start of Anthony Seibolds tenure, but has endured a difficult spell in Townsville.
He has failed to play finals with the club and after a third straight loss the Queensland Origin representative ripped into his teammates on Sunday Night with Matty Johns.
