A Massachusetts construction workers love of black licorice has wound up costing him his life.
The 54-year-old would eat a bag and a half every day for a few weeks – a habit that threw his nutrients out of whack and caused his heart to stop, doctors reported on Wednesday.
Even a small amount of licorice you eat can increase your blood pressure a little bit, Dr Neel Butala, a cardiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital, said in the New England Journal of Medicine.
