Washington: Planet Mars will be opposite and closest to the Sun in the sky on October 13.
On that date, Mars will be at opposition – opposite the Sun in the sky. Earth will be situated directly between Mars and the Sun. As a result, Mars will rise as the Sun sets and sets as the Sun rises, according to Sky & Telescope.
