Many clubs rorted salary cap, league knew: veteran Hawk official – The Age
A veteran Hawthorn official says anyone who worked in footy from 1986 into the ’90s knew salary cap rorts were widespread, while the Hawks took an AFL amnesty.
“The salary cap was new, it started in ’86. We were transitioning from a competition that was semi-professional to professional.”
Hook confirmed that the Hawks had taken the amnesty on salary cap rorts when it was introduced in 1994.
