Man who stabbed, beat wife to death on driveway wins bid for retrial

Peniamina hit his wife with his hand, then she went to the kitchen and he heard her opening a drawer, before he saw she had armed herself with a knife.
Peniamina tried to grab the knife, but his wife pulled it back, causing a deep cut to his hand. He then got a hold of the knife and began to stab his wife with it.
Their son saw his father stabbing his mother in the head while she was on the floor and heard her calling for help. Ms Peniamina was able to get up and run out the front door and onto the driveway.
Peniamina chased her, continued stabbing her in the head – with his son still watching – before he grabbed a concrete bollard from the garden and hit his wife’s head with it, fracturing her skull.
