Man stabs woman in back in DV attack, police allege

A man accused of stabbing a woman in the back on Saturday night is facing a string of domestic violence charges laid by Cairns police.

Police allege the 46-year-old attacked the woman, who he knew, at an address on Workshop Road, Yarrabah, east of Cairns, about 7pm on Saturday.

The woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“A 46-year-old local man left the scene and surrendered himself to police a short time later,” a police statement said.

The man was denied police bail and was due to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on Monday.
