Man killed in police shooting in Townsville, north Queensland

A man has been killed in a police shooting in north Queensland.

Officers were called to Mitchell Street in North Ward in Townsville just before 10am on Saturday.

The ABC understands the man sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and legs.

He died at the scene.
