A man has died and a baby girl airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a single-vehicle crash in the Bundaberg region on Friday evening.

The sedan they were travelling in, driven by a 25-year-old woman, was heading east on the Isis Highway at Eureka, near Childers, about 3.5 hours north of Brisbane.

Police say the vehicle left the road and continued along a culvert before hitting a tree about 5.15pm, with the 28-year-old man declared dead at the scene.

The baby, aged three-and-a-half months, was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with a “serious head injury”, police said in a statement.
