Man forced to prise crocodile jaws from his head in north Queensland attack
A government wildlife team will search for a crocodile that attacked a man swimming in Queensland’s far north on Thursday afternoon, forcing him to prise the animal’s jaws off his head.
The 44-year-old man had been swimming at Lake Placid, about 11 kilometres north-west of Cairns along the Barron River, about 12.45pm when he felt a sudden impact “clasp” on the top of his head.

Critical care paramedic Paul Sweeney said the man recognised it to be a crocodile, before putting “his hands into the jaws to prise them off his head”. The jaw then snapped shut onto a finger on his left hand.
