Man critically injured after small plane crashes and catches fire in Greenbank bushland near Brisbane

Authorities say the pilot of a small plane that crashed at Greenbank, south of Brisbane, is lucky to have survived.

The plane came down in a paddock off Tully Road about 2:30pm and burst into flames on impact.

A man was pulled from the aircraft by people who lived nearby.

The plane was engulfed by the fire and only the tail section remained intact, with most of the fuselage burnt to the ground.

The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) said the 24-year-old pilot was the sole occupant of the plane.
