Man charged with attempted murder over Brisbane unit fire

A man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly set fire to a unit in Brisbane’s inner southern suburb of Yeronga.
Emergency services were called to a Cowper Street address about 2.40am on Sunday, where a person at the address escaped and police evacuated neighbouring residents.

Paramedics attended but no one required treatment.
A 36-year-old Mount Gravatt East man has since been charged with attempted murder, arson and three counts of wilful damage.
He will appear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
The investigation is continuing.
