A man has undergone surgery after he was bitten in a suspected shark attack on Lake Macquarie, north of Sydney.

About 6:30pm on Saturday, emergency services were called to Yoorala Road in Yarrawonga Park following reports of a shark attack.
Paramedics treated a 58-year-old man at the scene for injuries to his arm before he was airlifted to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital.
He is in a serious but stable condition.
