Man arrested speeding away from fire near Cherry Gardens blaze
South Australian police have arrested a man who was caught leaving the scene of a fire at Clarendon in the Adelaide Hills, near the emergency-level Cherry Gardens blaze.
Police say officers spotted the man about 6:00pm speeding away from a fire that had recently started on Piggott Range Road.
The Clarendon fire broke out as firefighters fought a massive blaze at nearby Cherry Gardens, which has burnt more than 1,200 hectares as it burns towards townships to the north-east.
Police say they’re investigating links between the Clarendon fire and others in the area.
More to come.
