Malaysian couple welcome 10,000 guests to drive-through wedding amid coronavirus pandemic
The coronavirus pandemic has forced the cancellation of many large weddings this year, but one Malaysian couple has defied the odds, reportedly hosting 10,000 people at their event.
Key points:
- Local media reported it took three hours for all the guests to drive past the bride and groom
- Guests collected takeaway food before leaving
- The groom’s father, a former cabinet minister, was found guilty of corruption a day earlier
But this was no ordinary wedding.
The newlyweds, Tengku Muhammed Hafiz and Oceane Alagia, sat outside a government building and waved while guests drove past in cars to comply with the country’s social distancing measures.
Before they left, wedding guests collected takeaway food from a nearby tent.
