The Applicant was aware of concerns raised by WaterNSW and others regarding its mine design and the associated impacts. The Applicant has made minor amendments; however, the impacts remain significant, the commission said.
The commissions statement of reasons said the project had not been properly quantified on the potential for long-term and irreversible impacts on drinking water for Sydney, the Macarthur and Illawarra regions, and the Wollondilly Shire.
It is not in the public interest, it said.
