Australian stargazers will need to be up early on Friday morning to catch a glimpse of one of the major astronomy events of the year.
The Lyrid meteor shower is not as active as some of the larger sky-viewing opportunities, such as the Geminid meteor shower in December of the Perseids meteor shower in August, but its still worth a look.
