A 20-year-old man who drowned in a Queensland river during New Year’s celebrations was a talented surfer who had an “infectious smile”.
Sunshine Coast man Luddy Reynolds was camping with friends by the Mary River near Gympie on New Year’s Eve when he went for a night swim.
He went under while in waist-deep water but failed to resurface, sparking an urgent search by campers in the area and later swift water rescuers.
