Out of loyalty he refused to be drawn on his former fiancee Mariah Carey in the lead up to her memoir’s publication a fortnight ago. He would only wish her well. Days later, the pop superstar returned the favour by revealing their 18-month relationship was “not physical”.
But Carey is something of an anomaly in the James Packer story. A star in her own right, she was unaware of the legacy that comes with the Packer surname.
