Local footy legend plays 450 games for Doveton Eagles – ABC News
Tony “Merto” Mertis has played for three decades, and at 52-years-old, he isn’t ready to hang up the boots just yet.

A beloved member of the Doveton Eagles since 1990, forward Tony “Merto” Mertis played his 450th game at the weekend.
But the milestone was bittersweet his footy-loving father passed away only a month earlier.
He told Raf Epstein on ABC Radio Melbourne about the “emotional” day, how he manages to still play at 52-years-old, and why he has an undying love for his club.
