Williams covets the Melbourne Cup above all other Australian races. He has claimed the Flemington prize with the likes of Just A Dash (1982), What A Nuisance (1985) and Almandin (2016) over the last 40 years.
Williams last won the Melbourne Cup in 2017 with the Joseph O’Brien-trained Rekindling.
