Kogan misled customers by raising prices before EOFY sale, court rules – Sydney Morning Herald
Australia’s competition regulator has won its legal battle against Kogan, with the Federal Court dismissing the online retailer’s defence .
In an example provided by the regulator, Kogan raised the price of a 15-inch Apple MacBook Pro from $3649 to $4149, before lowering the price back to $3649 a week later. A 10 per cent discount on $4149 would leave customers paying $85 higher than the pre-promotion price.
In its defence, Kogan did not deny that it had increased the price of its products prior to the promotion, nor did it deny it had subsequently reduced prices to their original level after the promotion’s completion.
