The Newcastle Knights have named a five-man leadership group for the 2021 season, which doesn’t include former captain Mitchell Pearce.
The Newcastle Knights have named a five-man leadership group for the 2021 season, which doesn’t include former captain Mitchell Pearce.
Pearce stood down from the Knights captaincy earlier this month over an off-season text messaging scandal, with the new captain to come from the group of five named on Saturday.
The new leadership group consists of star fullback Kalyn Ponga, veteran five-eighth Blake Green, Origin prop Daniel Saifiti, workhorse lock Mitch Barnett and hooker Jayden Brailey.
