Kirin, parent company of Australian beer company Lion, cuts ties with Myanmar military after coup

The parent company of Lion, which owns and distributes some of Australia’s most iconic beers, has cut ties with the Myanmar military after it staged a coup this week.

Lion is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kirin Holdings, a Japanese company which had a joint-venture partnership with Myanma Economic Holdings Public Company Limited (MEHL), which is linked to Myanmar’s military.
