Kelkiah Apartments residents urged to evacuate Canberra complex immediately after fire safety issues found
An “urgent” notice has warned residents of a Canberra apartment complex to immediately evacuate their homes, after the discovery of safety issues that could lead to a rapid collapse in the event of a fire.

- Residents of Kelkiah Apartments in Macquarie have been told to evacuate immediately due to unsafe pillars in the basement carpark
- The builders have previously been issued a rectification order for the complex, but issues surrounding the pillars were only discovered last week
