Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (AKA Kate Middleton) has a famously colourful wardrobe, but there’s one shade Kate has never worn. For someone who’s been in the public eye for well over a decade that’s a pretty impressive feat and, if you ask us, far from coincidence.
Kate has worn warmer colours like bright red, coral and peach, but she’s never been photographed wearing orange, Harper’s Bazaar reports. While it was previously believed to be a matter of royal protocol or orange not photographing well, we think there might be another reason for the Duchess avoiding the zesty hue. After all, the Duchess has made it clear that she likes to send messages with her outfit colour choices.
According to Colour Psychology, orange is associated with a variety of traits, including optimism, confidence and enthusiasm. It does, however, have some notably less appealing connotations. “Among the negative traits of this colour are exhibitionist, superficial, inexpensive, dependent, unsociable, or too proud,” reads Colour Psychology.
