Legendary Monty Python star John Cleese has joined Simpsons voice actor Hank Azaria in apologising for hurtful cultural representation – although for exactly the opposite reasons.
On Monday, Azaria, a white actor, apologised for voicing Indian character Apu Nahasapeemapetilon on The Simpsons.
Two days later, veteran actor and writer John Cleese – whose 1970s sitcom Fawlty Towers was embroiled in a censorship controversy in 2020 – took to Twitter in a sarcastic rant that pilloried cancel culture…
