In the instant of its creation, at least, Joe Biden’s presidency appeared auspicious.

The sun broke through before high noon, striking the dome of the Capitol in a halo of dazzling light.

Late January is rarely pleasant outdoors in the capital. Only minutes before, flurries of snow flakes had swept over Washington DC.

Suddenly, when his moment arrived, Biden was buffeted by the softest of breezes and that strong, glorious glow descended from above.

This presidency needs fair winds.
