The Oscar winner goes to town in this retro cop thriller, delivering one of the most sheerly dislikeable screen characters since Dirty Harry’s hippie killer.
Deke, in fact, is a haunted man, unable to shake off traumatic memories from his days as a Los Angeles police detective and prone to visions of one youthful murder victim (Anna McKitrick) in particular. A few years back, his failure to crack this case apparently brought about some form of nervous collapse, leading in turn to his move out of town.
In the present day of 1990, the same killer may have struck again which is perverse good news, since it gives Deke one more shot at closure. Taking time…
