The former Rugby Australia elite national coaches boss would pick one of two Australians currently coaching abroad to lead the Waratahs next season.
Coleman completed his second Shute Shield transformation at Gordon last year, leading the club from the cellar to a premiership in similar fashion to the Warringah side he led to the 2017 title.
He is now the coach of Major League Rugbys Los Angeles Giltinis.
