The number of US hospitals nearing breaking point has doubled in the past two months as the nation’s ICU crisis deepens.

Hundreds of US intensive care units are running out of space and supplies and competing to hire temporary travelling nurses as the nation reaches another confronting coronavirus milestone.
An Associated Press analysis of federal hospital data shows that since November, the share of US hospitals nearing the breaking point has doubled.
More than 40 per cent of Americans now live in areas running out of ICU space, with only 15 per cent of beds still available.
