‘It wasn’t the deal I thought’: How Gerry Ryan stopped the sale of GreenEdge to Spain – Sydney Morning Herald
The owner of Australia’s professional cycling team is looking towards next month’s Tour de France after a bizarre near-takeover of the team he set up eight years ago.
It was announced midway through June that the Ryan-owned team would no longer be called Mitchelton-Scott, sponsored by his own wine company, but be rebranded Team Manuela Fundacion and decked out in a new black and pink kit.
Six days later, however, the Victorian entrepreneur declared the deal was off.
