It is difficult for us to imagine that if a world war broke out today, many of our Queensland Ambulance personnel would likely voluntarily enlist in the armed forces to serve their country. This was exactly the scenario for Queensland Ambulance in both World War I and World War II as we embark on this week’s #ThrowbackThursday.

Allan Pettiford commenced as an Honorary Ambulance Officer at QATB Roma in 1938 and enlisted for war service in 1940 where he was attached to the 2/12 Field Ambulance.
