Is NSW doing enough to contain the Northern Beaches coronavirus outbreak?

Coronavirus cases in Sydney have escalated quickly since an airport van driver tested positive on Wednesday.

But despite NSW health authorities identifying 28 cases in just two days, no official lockdowns have been put in place and mandatory mask wearing has not been introduced.

Most of the cases are centred around the Northern Beaches in Sydney, but two are residents of south-eastern suburbs.

Another woman travelled on a flight to Queensland and at least one close contact is already in Victoria.

NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said sewage testing returned negative results on December 10, which suggests the cluster is relatively new and has not been bubbling…
