Indonesian military locates missing submarine, with no survivors found

Indonesian military officials have confirmed they have found a missing submarine, which lies deep in the Bali Sea and has broken into three parts.

- 53 people are believed to have died, including Indonesia’s submarine fleet commander
- President Joko Widodo has sent condolences to the deceased’s families
- Jakarta has been called upon to modernise its ageing military hardware
Navy chief of staff Yudo Margono told reporters the ship’s hull, stern and main body were separated, with the latter found cracked, and added the crew were not to blame for the accident.
