Indigenous Australians over 55 eligible to receive AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from Monday
While Liverpool became a COVID-19 hotspot during the pandemic, not one case was recorded at the Gandangara clinic.
From Monday, Indigenous Australians over 55 will be eligible to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine as part of the next phase of the nation’s COVID-19 vaccine roll-out.
Thirty-three Aboriginal Community Controlled Health organisations will be the first to administer the jab, including the Gandangara Local Aboriginal Land Council’s health service in Liverpool, in Sydney’s south-west.
Land council chief executive and Bundjalung woman Melissa Williams said the organisation had been on the front foot throughout the pandemic.
